House passes bill eliminating Senate confirmation for presidential appointees

Once upon a time American Citizens lived securely in a Constitutional Republic.  However in the progressive's New Age 21st Century, with Republican't politicians looking & acting legislatively almost as progressively as treacherous D'Rats, don't bet on it to be true much longer.

UPDATE: The House passed the legislation Tuesday night by a vote of 261-116. The bill now goes to President Obama’s desk for his signature.

But a number of conservative groups are arguing that the “Presidential Efficiency and Streamlining Act” amounts to Congress neutering itself and giving the executive branch unprecedented power.

Presidential appointees that would no longer require Senate confirmation under the legislation include the treasurer of the United States and the deputy administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.

“The United States Constitution does not bestow kingly powers on the President to appoint the senior officers of the government with no process,” wrote Thomas McClusky, the senior vice president for the Family Research Council’s legislative arm, in a Monday memo to lawmakers.

...THIS IS totally unconstitutional. WHAT's worse, is it was passed via a voice vote, so there's no record of who voted for it!

...IF it is such a small issue, then WHY hide the vote? AND WHY eliminate a procedure that has worked perfectly well for more than 2 centuries?

Agreed - The Congress has been reneging on their responsibilities for way too long,  and that list of things not to do appears to have just gotten a bit longer.  Does Boehnor know how much the tea party people are disgusted by his inactions ?  Toast his butt next Feb. as action #1 for the new Hous Majority !

I can agree to that with one caveate.  The problems we are discussing were predicted by the most libertarian the letter.   de Tuoqueville may have summed up the already eroding principles better than anyone.  The liberas have an easy road to follow - they only have to promise everything to 51% of the people.  Free lunches for all !  Those of us on the right side of the aisle have to deal with reality and it's consequences.  We alone try to explain the unintended consequences in the big picture to people who,  especially in boom times,  do not want to hear it.  It is just draconian to vote for the top 1% of the most wealthy Americans ! { add the sarcastic avatar of your choice here }

The most devastating early debates in the first real time mass media outlet,  radio,  and every major outlet since,  has been owned and operated by liberals.   Just to hold the fort for so long against these odds is a huge undertaking.   It has been a real shot in the arm for us with the new internet sites and talk radio building a solid base for the first time in this area.   The polls say the country is split almost in half.  That is crap !  This nation has always been center right.  The Bluedog  Democrats outnumber the RINOs in many more states than vice versa.  Cut the coastline of America like a crust of bread on a PBJ sandwich,  and you have a completely different nation.

We have just begun to see the wins for our side in the past three years.  There is no reason in the world to believe the corner has not been turned.   Getting better representation and keeping them uncorrupted will be our main goal.  I can not remember any time in my life that the republicans held a large majority in either side of the legislature.  I am looking forward to that first.

Why I pick on Boehnor is he had his chances in the first six years under W,  and did not lead.  He has caved on every major game of chicken the Dems. have played,  and he had the best hand every time.   Even when he appears to draw a line in the sand,  he looks weak and sounds worse.   I just do not trust him.

...WE NEED to "toast his butt" in November, after the election ~ assuming he''ll be reelected ~ when the House votes for the Speaker of the House for the new Congress...

We are Traitors and Thieves and Cowards

there was 3 branches of goverment    1 executive which is the presdent     2 judgeical which enforces the laws if constitional 3 congress which makes the laws.        obama  is doing all 3 and if there a law he don't like he don't enforce it.
