Is The NRAs New Ad An Open Call To Violence?

This piece caught my eye because it's something I've been asking since 2016.  It has seemed to me that some of what Donald Trump has leaned towards almost invited outrage and while I'm a gun supporter, I've never been more relieved that "mine" are packed away in a locked gun safe.

I'm curious to get more opinions from Conservative members.  Has the NRA over stepped with this narrative?  It almost seems as though they're pushing for civil war. "Us" against "them".  An idea that makes me truly cringe.  Well here we go; can't wait to hear from you:

The National Rifle Association released a new ad earlier this month urging Americans to join "freedom's safest place" as protesters and members of the "resistance" movement who oppose Donald Trump's presidency "smash windows, burn cars, and "terrorize the law-abiding."

The one-minute ad features footage of protesters and marches overlayed with commentary by the conservative media personality and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

Loesch describes anti-Trump protests as "madness" and terror that "shut down interstates and airports" and warrant a heavy-handed police response.

Here's the full transcript:

"They use their media to assassinate real news. They use their schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler. They use their movie stars and singers and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again. And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance.

"All to make them march, make them protest, make them scream racism and sexism and xenophobia and homophobia, to smash windows, burn cars, shut down interstates and airports, bully and terrorize the law-abiding — until the only option left is for the police to do their jobs and stop the madness.

"And when that happens, they'll use it as an excuse for their outrage. The only way we stop this, the only way we save our country and our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth. I'm the National Rifle Association of America, and I'm freedom's safest place."

The ad prompted backlash from some progressives, who called it "an open call to violence" and "barely a whisper shy of a call for full civil war."

The conservative columnist Anne Applebaum also denounced the ad, saying it called on Americans "to arm themselves to fight liberals. Violence is coming."

Loesch doubled down in a Periscope video posted on Wednesday night, saying that "the language of the left is violence" and calling "these people ... the dullest crayons in the box."

The ad's language echoes what NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February.

"Right now, we face a gathering of forces that are willing to use violence against us," he said, citing "the leftist radical plan to tax capitalism to collapse" and "the ISIS dream of a worldwide caliphate."

"A lot of people, for a lot of reasons, want to blow it all up and tear the whole thing down," LaPierre said. "The left's message is absolutely clear. They want revenge. You have to be punished. They say you are what is wrong with America and now you have to be purged."

A gun can only protect you if it is loaded and close by. All children should be taught gun safety and shooting skills. I had my own rifle range at 5 and all of our guns were always loaded so no one touched them. It is the assumed empty gun that causes accidents.

The unfortunate reality is this: Loesch speaks the truth....
LaPierre speaks the truth when he said "Right now, we face a gathering of forces that are willing to use violence against us,".

The left has persistently painted the Constitutionalist (called the "Right") as violent, racist, "deplorables" who deserve no respect or consideration, and have openly called for fighting in the streets "Kaine".

Their method is to project their own violent and deceptive nature onto the rest of us.... and we never seem to stand up for ourselves.... We let it continue....

I do not wish for violence, and I don't consider the words of Lapierre or Loesch inflammatory, nor inciteful....

Just truthful...

We should never be afraid of the truth.... and we've backed away from it long enough to avoid "conflict". We can't avoid it. The LEFT is making sure of that.....

Seems to me they want us to lower ourselves to the lefts scum-sucking level........and o/c do it buy buying their mfgrs products. *wink wink*

"And when that happens, they'll use it as an excuse for their outrage. The only way we stop this, the only way we save our country and our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth....."

These anarchists will not stop until they have killed as many conservative/republican/Christian individuals as they can, to impose their ideology and completely oppress us.....  they don't know what they believe in, they just march to their drumbeat and get Soros money.....  all you have to do is watch them burn and pillage, pummel anyone who gets in their way.....  because they still think that Obama's lawlessness protects them..........  wait until neo-nazis, skinheads, and truly racist groups decide to fight back.....  these anarchists will run away because they are only brave when they outnumber everyone else.... or they confront bikers, Rolling-Thunder, or OathKeepers.

Kos, I'm sorry you feel this way.  I don't see any push from the NRA to use violence in this ad, though the leftist progressives are actually expressing violence in their rhetoric, ads, in congress and in their songs and other media.

Keep your guns locked up and unloaded where they'll do no good if that works for you.

And who are the NRA's manufacturers?  The NRA manufactures no hunting or self defense weapons, though they do sell accessories and advertise them.  What the NRA has been doing for many years is fighting to protect our rights, and thanks to volunteers, like me, they've been more and more successful.  You have me very confused with your accusations.

Many responses here have mentioned that we've let this situation occur over the years of not pushing back.  That may be the case for some, but I for one have done everything I can to fight the good fight and I will not relent.

David, Thanks for being out there 'fighting the good fight'.

That's the real beauty of living in America . . . you don't to carry a gun unless you want to  . . . . crooks will always have guns, knives or whatever their choice of weapon might be.

Folks also have the option of buying or not buying their insurance . . . ain't Freedom Great?

We're in a civil war now and we're bending, bending over backwards trying to avoid the violence. At some point the left is going to push too far. At some point in the left's drive to destroy America, we're going to have to say "enough!" I hope it doesn't come to that, but it it does, I'll be prepared and you should be too. Take a conceal course and carry. Until the Establishment in DC decides to stop the violence, it will continue. Don't lose a loved one to their reaction to the '16 election and Obama and previous administrations pushing America left. Protect yourselves.

.....The bottom line is that we created this situation ourselves. We went much too long not holding our representatives to task. They have become morphed into the same corrupt and ineffective team of miscreants that we allow to manipulate our sacred freedom and "Rule of Law" that is the hallmark of a Constitutional Republic.
......   The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure,” Jefferson wrote in a letter to William S. Smith, a diplomatic official in London, on November 13, 1787.And it is true today. Consider that Obama funneled "Billions of Rounds of Ammo and weapons " to branches of Govt. like the IRS, Homeland Security, The Park Service, Social Security Everybody in Liberal Govt. is armed to the teeth. They have non-compliant ammo and seem to be entrenched even though we have a new President. Plus we have an FBI and CIA that smell unfortunately complicit in the liberal governance models. We also have George Soros openly financing BLM and the Black Panthers a long time violent group. The fact is the " Revolution " is in progress the street level actions grow daily with voracity and frequency.
.........So to be unprepared now is irresponsible. The call to violence is already been advanced by the left, it is time for us to answer. KOS your educated in current politics and know we are struggling to find a return to the roots of the Constitution. Did I exaggerate the left's actions? And if not how long do we continue talking before we start fighting to take back what is truly in jeopardy?

You're right, Robert. It is our fault. And we have a responsibility to fix it.

I'm not at all upset by the NRA 1 minute ad. Expected that 'progressives' would respond the way they have.

When leaders at high levels of the federal swamp fail to speak strongly against the tactics the left has quietly and now aggressively having their troops implement we will have an internal civil war NRA ad or not. The ad speaks truth.

When leaders fail to lead we the little people will take actions to resist what the Obama Administration has wrought on American's.

The progressive/communist/islamist left has been pushing Americans to violence since early 2009, Obama`s classic communist rhetoric,"if they bring a knife, we bring a gun", the base of his operations include a proud, unrepentant terrorist, and MANY others with a history of anarchist, violent instincts. We have held ourselves to the law thus far - a tribute to Americans that did not rise to the many years of baiting, the many instances of the DNC, with full cooperation of the executive, to simply ignore law - there are a myriad of examples. I don`t see the wording of the ad as a call to violence, I`ve known Dana for a few years, she is very good at making a point, the point is, we have gone beyond heated rhetoric, beyond the left trying to hide what they have always been, it is a blunt, needed wake up call that the left has given the nod to their followers that the fight is on and those that live by Constitutional law must be aware and prepared - it is a classic example of being very careful what you ask for.
