I'm asking my fellow constitutional conservatives to help me wrap my head  around the issues of the National Popular Vote Movement.

I admit that I am just waking up to this movement.

I took a look at;

President-Elect Trump Repeats His Long-Standing Opposition to Elect...

1st = it strongly reeks of progressive twisting of facts throughout - including and especially the claim that it would bring all the states into play. Simple math and common sense knows it would make only the largest cities important in elections.

then it also reminds me of Soros' Secretary of State project which was mostly invisible to the public several years back, where Soros financed covert efforts to get progressive minded SOS's in every state. The method and the agenda has Soros' aura all over it. The good news to that is his efforts have been mostly failures with increasing failures -- Since ACORN was dismantled as far as I have observed.

I doubt the truthfulness of the claims of success in some of the states I'm familiar with in it's list. Those claims look like more progressive fact twisting to me. Although, even the most conservative states' cities are mostly VERY 'progressive' and are receptive to the whole 'genuine democracy' crap, so maybe the list does have some basis of truth.

my 2¢

Yes Larry reeks of progressive twisting of facts. I suspect this movement hatched in Silicon Valley and it could very well have the Soros' money all over it.

My state AZ the House actually passed the bill. Its setting in a committee of the AZ Senate and I and others will work to make it die there. If a bill is not addressed in a session the bill must be introduced over again. My states session closed recently.

That is one reason we must elect good conservatives up and down the ballot this midterm.

Here is a paper from BYU why the popular vote compact  is unconstitutional Why%20the%20National%20Popular%20Vote%20Compact%20is%20Unconstituti...

It is a lengthy paper. The left cares not a fig about the constitution accept if it suits their agenda.

In the 2016 election President Trump, then candidate Trump, said more than once that HC did not have the stamina to campaign vigorously in all states. That is one of the reason he won doing the hard campaigning to win the electoral college vote HC campaign was depending on high population centers.

I share Laura Ingraham 's thoughts President Trump saying he would win the popular perplexing. Perhaps he would maybe not.

Skirting the constitution, not using the amendment process, well their motivations are at risk and tells me they are up to no good and this compact must be stopped in its track.

Popular Vote Compact: Fraught With Constitutional Perils

How The Electoral College Saves Us From The Mob Rule Of Democracy
Do conservatives need to be ashamed of winning elections by means of the Electoral College that they would not win in a more directly democratic contest? No.

Popular vote v. Electoral College: Be careful what you wish for

National Popular Vote is unconstitutional

Strong dosages of political showmanship are vying for our attention these days. A seemingly endless parade of presidential candidates, debates, caucuses and primaries take center stage as the crucial 2016 cycle approaches. We hear promises, sift through bravado and try to separate fact from blatant fiction. To add to the head spinning exhibitions are a rash of quick fixes, that actually create even more havoc. Arizona House Bill 2456 (national popular vote; interstate agreement) is such a measure — definitely worthy of your attention. Its Senate counterpart, identically named) is SB 1218.

This piece of legislation would require the popular vote for U.S. President to determine the winner, effectively relegating the Electoral College into political obscurity.

There are increasing election machinations to change the system put in place by our Founders to safeguard the election process — clearly defined in the U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section 1, Clause II, not to relegate small states into inconsequential obscurity.

Legislators contemplating support for this bill should heed the wisdom of these words: “Don’t ever take a fence down until you know the reason why it was put up.” America’s Founders strategically placed fences in an effort to balance power among the branches of the federal government and the states. This balance has served our nation well and it should not impetuously be cast aside.

The Republican Platform succinctly addresses this issue under the heading, The Continuing Importance of Protecting the Electoral College:

“We oppose the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact or any other scheme to abolish or distort the procedures of the Electoral College. We recognize that an unconstitutional effort to impose “national popular vote” would be a mortal threat to our federal system and a guarantee of corruption as every ballot box in every state would become a chance to steal the presidency.”

This video “The Popular Vote vs. the Electoral College,” courtesy of Prager University explains the complex issue and is important to watch. It takes less than five minutes of your time, but will educate you on the issues involved. Knowledge is power.

AM912, I knew I could count on you to post good stuff.

We folks need to stop this compact movement in our states where each member resides.

It's a rare occurrence that you would see extra-constitutional actions challenged. Is it because people are uneducated, ill informed or is it because they have accepted the open-ended Democracy Living Constitution where the mob rules?

Answer is all you ask.

Where mob rules is in the concept of true democracy which as you know was feared by our founders. I heard Chucky Cheese Schumer use "true democracy" in a statement yesterday. They no longer hide their intentions.

True democracy for the masses which will bring authoritarian state locked and loaded with tyranny.
