So . . .GA6 and SC5 remain repub.
Okay. So what! In the last 7yrs the dems have lost well over a thousand seats across the board and now the GOP has control of BOTH the Senate and the HoR -- and now the WH. Yet, are we even close to REAL Obamacare repeal; or tax reform? No. Are we closer to REAL spending cuts or a Balanced Budget? Nuh-uh. How about the runaway costs of SocSec; any closer to any reform there? HAH!
So, excuse me for not popping the bubbly over the GA or SC "wins". I grade on actual legislative RESULTS - not merely on intentions. We get enough of that w/ the bullsh*t COMMON CORE education system.
That's my not-so-humble opinion!
so Luis.. didya go to the prez's rally in Tampa? ;' / was it packed with toothless garbage people?
Nah. Couldn't go. Been really busy the last several months. Lots of personal changes going in my life. To be honest, it's too damned HOT and STEAMY out here to be among the multtple 1000s that were present.
From what I know, the mood was electric and positive. It hadn't been the case in well over a decade. If it weren't for the establishment GOPee-ons and the wildly radical dem/media, I'd feel like we're actually moving forward.
> I'd really like DT to let there be another so called "shut down". It didn't hurt the repubs one iota for the 2014 midterms. The US need the immigration reforms (the "lottery", catch & release; chain migration) that DT ran on back in 2016. We also need REAL CUTS budget.
Sadly, I still believe that McConnel and Ryan will continue the status quo. That there will not be a budget. That their "CR" games will continue. Which means the Deficit and Debt WILL continue climbing - dispite President Trump having said, after the last atrocious spending bill, that "It won't happen again".
Anyways...Thanx for the shout out, ole friend! Have a blessed weekend, folks!
yeah, uniparty has zero interest in cutting the size of debt or government, no doubt. ..or letting a shutdown discontinue being a perceived boogyman. ...or even running a government on the simplest of sound principles, like being on a fixed budget.
I will say though that the last shutdown was felt by SS recipients, their checks came late - I was told for a couple months. But given that the 'shutdown' was for only two days and on a weekend I think that had to be bureaucracy retaliating, Lois Lerner style.
Hope your life changes are good ones.
"I will say though that the last shutdown was felt by SS recipients, their checks came late - I was told for a couple months. But given that the 'shutdown' was for only two days and on a weekend I think that had to be bureaucracy retaliating"
It's bllsht, imo. That so called "shutdown" in no way had any affect no my SS benefits or anyone that I know receives it.
Think about it. It was a weekend thing! Federal gov't services is accessible from Mon to Fri ONLY. And they're closed on holidays. When the 3rd of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday pr a holiday the payments are either mailed, or are electronically deposited and available, either on the 1st or 2nd, or the last friday of the prior month.
Anyways, on another topic. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Don Jr was a very stupid man to have even went to Russia...to seek "dirt" from...who else?...a Russian! It's llike playing Legos w/ master chess players. ,
Gee Luis I thought the mtg win don jr was in Trump tower. so much on this crap must have missed something.
I seem to recall a lengthy shutdown during the Clinton admin and oops we survived.
somewhere around 86% of a shutdown during the O admin was still working. i would be the first to say mu goodness you could most likely rif 30% of the feds workforce and not skip a beat.
yeah, could be b.s. - wouldn't be the 1st lie from her
seen it a couple times already this week, already find it insulting/disgusting and dread hearing the chorus of 'Russia did it' blame (earnestly and with sincerity) thrown for Ds coming election losses. Politics ARrghh - who the hell wants such alternate universe nonsense to have rule over their lives. Only MSM finds that b.s. legitimate.
maybe due to me having been expecting it for years.. I've noticed lately the birthrate has finally begun creeping into the immigration debate. Here in U.S. it's still not directly mentioned, bouncing around the primary point of Bretton Woods requiring a 2.2 children per 2 parent family to sustain itself by talking about mass immigration being necessary to sustain a healthy GDP. <-- at least the politicians are finally preparing us to eventually admit one of their primary motives.
But Italy's Salvini didn't beat around the bush about it this weekend, saying outright immigration is a pisspoor distructive alternative to having the necessary birthrate to sustain the economy. ... problem is, apparently Mussolini made the same correct point and MSM is throwing dictator labels at Salvini already, to nobody's surprise.
It's been reported that "46%" of the GOPee-ons say that the potus should have the power to shutdown any media news sources that "behaves badly"?
NOT A GOOD IDEA at all! The American potus is only that. President. He/she is not a king; diictator; or a cleric. Such rulers are exactly who our Founders stood against. Many paid the ultimate sacrifice for Freedom and Liberty.
The stupidity is infectious and can be fatal. Watch what you wish for. It may It may shut you up and down before you ever knew what happened! It's just like socialism in America. It wasn't long ago the very notion was considered ridiculous.
I'm not laughing. Are you?
NO LUIS NOT LAUGHING 1 BIT. RESTRICTING FREE SPEECH AND A FREE PRESS IS DANGEROUS.
speaking of not laughing...
just read Stossel's SS is going broke article. No new news within as far as I can tell, SS is in the red this year - medicare will be within 8 years.
for the past 20 years I've guessed SS will fail about the time I reach the age of qualification, wherever they move that age requirement as I age. It's just the way all things government work in my life. I'm getting there soon enough if the age requirement is 64 now, <--I'm not even sure of that. So... wonder what magic con job program the politicians will soon concoct disguised as a new fed/gov all inclusive 'solution' to continue providing what SS and medicare now provide(??) -- which btw is pretty substandard to begin with, ?providing? pretty darn low quality of life expectations compared to what the same money woulda done if invested individually.
I do believe that SS age must be bumped up to 67. I say this due to both illegal and legal entries. I don't know your age but if you are approaching current SS age I think you would be safe. I suspect that there is an under current will to base SS recipients payout amounts on other factors.
Since Medicare age is at 65 I wonder then if that age would also be bumped up.
Being on both of these myself it would be a challenge for all who don't have a life's other cushion.
yeah Patricia.. given the life expectancies when it was created combined with the population diminishing birthrate over the past couple decades there's not much choice.
on my final point above.... imagine what all that money woulda done to grow the economy over the past 100 years if invested individually vs. put into the non-productive(government) debt creating sector. It's just been a multi-faceted horrible idea from the beginning - like many others of the era.
