So . . .GA6 and SC5 remain repub.
Okay. So what! In the last 7yrs the dems have lost well over a thousand seats across the board and now the GOP has control of BOTH the Senate and the HoR -- and now the WH. Yet, are we even close to REAL Obamacare repeal; or tax reform? No. Are we closer to REAL spending cuts or a Balanced Budget? Nuh-uh. How about the runaway costs of SocSec; any closer to any reform there? HAH!
So, excuse me for not popping the bubbly over the GA or SC "wins". I grade on actual legislative RESULTS - not merely on intentions. We get enough of that w/ the bullsh*t COMMON CORE education system.
That's my not-so-humble opinion!
Trump 2020! Build and improve the existing border wall!
DT's speech was FACTUAL. He finally made it clear that it is not all exclusively about a "Wall" -- but national security. That it is not only about immigration and border law enforcement but the very safety of our citizenry; neighborhoods; and our families.
As for what followed w/ up-Chuck and Nancy stretch-eye-strong Pelosi was simply predictable BLLSHT! All I had to do was hear Pelosi's first few words to KNOW that they were already as prefabricated as that "caravan" / invasion. I instantly flipped channels to watch "Everybody Loves Raymond". When sitcoms were actually about comedy and not about the liberal agenda.
Was the speech affective? I don't know. But I have no doubt that the portion of the country that despises DT also despise America's very founding. Will DT's supporters turn on him if he folds republican style (w/ yet another OVERspending bill w/ no significant $$$ for EFFECTIVE border security)? Maybe.
And what the GOPers? They lost the HoR because they HAD control of BOTH chambers -- yet...ONCE AGAIN they did SQUAT about this immigration and border problem. We may lose the Senate the next go'round.
As for his delivery of the speech -- I will not compare him to the way Obama read the teleprompter. BO is the master. But DT's speech did lack that passionate RESOLVE he has always expressed during his rallies. .Imo, he should have shown his disgust. He should have been more elaborate about Pelosi's; Schumer's and Obama's HYPOCRISY over this problem.
In a few days gov't worker will...or will not...get paid. Trump also called on the American people to CALL their reps to demand the additional funding needed. Will the people comply? Hmmm. I don't think they have since 2010. jmho
everybody loves raymond = comedy w/o a LOUD progressive agenda... I've noticed me having the same thoughts about Frasier and Barney Miller -- along with finding them funnier now than i did when they were current and i was younger.
I thought Trump's delivery was lacking also, and looked pretty uncomfortable. agree that the Delusional Duo afterwards was predictably disgusting. Schumer throwing out the temper tantrum line recently used against him+his party was equally predictably more of their projecting their own sins onto others and disgusting.
my overall thoughts on the wall =
if not for the nefarious exploitation of there being no barrier on the border I'd probably not care too much one way or the other, but the nefarious exploitation by obie+soros+crew over the past decade has made it absolutely necessary to build a wall/barrier. But even given that -- the biggest reason I want it under the current situation is due to somebody wearing the R label is actually FIGHTING to WIN against the Ds when they are fighting/bullying their hardest. --- he may not have been even close to the most polished speaker reading from a teleprompter but what a long overdue pleasure it was/is to finally see some of that.
The s POTUS walked out of a bllsht meeting w/ up-Chuck and stretcd-eye-strong. As well he should have! He'll be at the border next. I hope that DT emphasizes the FACT that just last year the top dems had okayed $30B for border. And now it's gone.
If anyone truly DON'T CARE about the US citizens that won't be getting paid IS the dems! Sadly, I don't believe that the majority will see it that way.
There will be protests in front of the WH. I have no doubt that it will be about cursing out Trump. W/ little or NO blame towards the dems. If that's the case, then I'll KNOW that the protests were organized by the very same usual sispects that released the radical rabid gangs known as OWS, BLM, Antifa, the "caravan" and the like.
The worst is yet to come. But I suspect many GOPers in the HoR and especially the Senate...spineless horse crap they ALWAYS are...WILL bail on DT's convictions to favor and PLACATE the media. If that happens -- it won't surprise one bit if DT decides NOT to seek a second term. DC is OWNED by the left.
I have to say that the spineless, globlist leaning members of the senate who seem to be all behind the President for standing strong on border security some have bailed making me wonder if the RINOs are had a plan in their dark swamp dwelling hearts to set up what would be their favorite candidate say a Romney or Kasich or a Fake type then there is a fallback one Jeb. I swear I do not think I could stomach it if Kasich should throw in the ring again. If any of the ones I mentioned I swear I will not vote for nary a one of them be it the primary or the general.
There may be hope??????????????
"Hope" is a nice thing to have. But, it is never a substitute for REAL long term solutions.
Luis, Hope is an emotion however a good many times folks holding on to hope is all they got when there is no solution. In the political I have no problem with the use of the word hope for any one that we choose to cast a vote for, even when we have vetted and done all as individuals, and within focused political groups, we the 'common' people can do there is never a guarantee you get what we want close to a solution. When the vote is cast and you follow like a hawk what they are up to -- try as hard as possible to hold them to a promise -- work with like minded groups to hold them to a promise for a solution honestly really all one has is "hope" that they do for the big $$s of the special interest count more than all our time and effort.
Hope is important along with action.
Thanks, Pat. You captured it perfectly. Hope is not a direct action but we still need to have it. Dismal life without it.
Pat, the thing is that there are solutions. What there isn't is the moral resplve to do the HARD things necessary to get it done.
The hardest thing that I've seen done in DC, in my lifetime, is Trump's standing firm on border protection. It's so unfortunate that he is practically alone here.
Luis, President Trump has strong broad shoulders couple that with the fact he enjoys winning a good fight all this done by a man who really believe could give fig about the two major parties. What he has accomplished thus far has been more conservative than not -- I appreciate that he has pushed the DACA and the border funding back to the legislative branch but I am good with him pulling the trigger if Congress fails to act. Enough already with the political theater.
Luis I was elected today for State Committeewoman and I wrote Suzi to thank her and all the TCC members who have influenced me over these years to get up and get involved. You are right about moral resolve".
About DACA. DT and ALL the repubs should be loudly pointing out that the dems are PROVING that they truly don't give a damn about the "Dreamers" at all. If they did they'd jump at the offer that Trump presented to them in exchange for the add'l funding for the border. That it's the dems that are denying the 800k their pay. It is they...and the media...that are playing pure politics and are driven by pure hatred towards the POTUS.
