OMAR AND HER IGNORANT FRIENDS
We all owe a debt of gratitude to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, the duly elected Peoples representative from the 5th District of Minnesota. You might say, “Surely you jest.” Actually, I am serious and here is why: she has highlighted ignorance. “It is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.” Sage words attributed to Abraham Lincoln. In her comments Omar has highlighted why elections have scary consequences and what we must endeavor to do to teach our children about the fragile nature of our nation. As strong as our Constitution is, it only takes one despot surrounded by true believers to rule over —overrule— the Peoples consent.
Citizens of the States threw off accumulated power in exchange for distributed power. In that context, and placing that notion first in line of all thoughts about our structure of governance, we can begin to appreciate the care that the Founders took to ensure self-governance and the idea that “We the People” own our government, the government does not own us as in our sister nation the United Kingdom. We are not subjects, we are citizen sovereigns, and that is an important distinction.
Let’s start at the foundation, the Constitution of the United States of America, Article I gives plenary power to the Congress, by way of consent of the governed, to govern. “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives..” The words “All” and “shall” leave no room for equivocation. That means it is Congress, and only Congress, that has the authority to craft laws for us to live by, and to see to it that the Executive Branch has the tools to administer the affairs of our nation. Together with the Declaration of Independence, our sovereignty as a nation is stated clearly.
Please don’t ignore the fact that each member of Congress who is included in “The Squad” and other fringe radical members of Congress who align with them, are all products of the American education system. Each has participated in the K-12 system or the university system or both, and subsequently should have learned about our form of government. They should have learned that their power and authority are granted to them by the People, and with that limited endowment are bound to act accordingly. We are left to ask the rhetorical question, do they not know about ‘consent of the governed’ or do they just not care?
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., told a Minneapolis audience recently that the United Nations should be brought in to oversee the migration crisis at our southern border. “We should do what any other country does, by dealing with this situation in a serious way," she told the audience. "So we have to bring in the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees – an agency that has the expertise and the training to handle massive flows of refugees humanely." (Fox News, 2019) She revealed her stunning ignorance of the job which she is being paid for. Not only that, but she also revealed her ignorance of the historical performance of the UN.
In nearly every intervention where the UN has claimed authority to act, the organization has been an abject failure. Hundreds of billions of dollars, euros, yen and rubles have been flushed down a massive bureaucratic toilet and into the pockets of the corrupt. The vast majority of people around the world do not know that the United Nations is a non-governmental organization (NGO). As much as the organization might like to assert that it is a superior government to all governments on earth, they aren’t.
So, is Congresswoman Omar admitting that she and her Congressional colleagues are incapable of doing the work to clean up American immigration law, or is she just saying that she and her Congressional colleagues are unwilling to do what needs to be done? A great start would be a State Guest Worker Program for those people who want to work but do not want to immigrate.
In essence, the Congresswoman has advocated for abdication of the authority she was given by the People who elected her, you know that whole consent of the governed thing. How would the people of her district react to being told by the boys in powder blue helmets —UN troops and “high commissioners”— their affairs will be managed for them? Furthermore, how would she justify her taxpayer pay check, high prestige office in DC and special treatment if she is not doing the work of the People?
The crux of the matter is that she —along with the like-minded radicals Ruben Gallego, Raul Grijalva, Greg Stanton and carpet-bagging Ann Kirkpatrick— want to consolidate power, which is antithetical to a distributed power governance structure. They want everything to go their way politically, and if public policy that respects self-governance doesn’t, they throw up their hands like spoiled children and threaten to abdicate their authority.
Arizona is a direct beneficiary, more like victim, of their epic failure to protect the People of Arizona and our sister states as well. So now they propose turning over our sovereign right of self-governance to the most dysfunctional and corrupt organization in the world? It’s time to pay attention to what is being taught in our schools folks, or you will one day be ruled not governed.
As Ron White said: "you can not fix stupid"
