Socialism VS Communism   Democrats VS Socialism   GOP VS other Parties

We hear the words Socialism, Progressives, Democratic Socialism, and Communism, but how many people actually know the difference. Below is an attempt to show historical differences, as well as the difference in these current popular ideologies.

We will create a new printable brochure utilizing the definitions as well as your comments. I would appreciate your input/opinions about the most important information that you think would be beneficial on the Brochure.  Thank you in advance for your participation ~ Suzie

2a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property

Socialism vs. Social Democracy: Usage Guide

In the many years since socialism entered English around 1830, it has acquired several different meanings. It refers to a system of social organization in which private property and the distribution of income are subject to social control, but the conception of that control has varied, and the term has been interpreted in widely diverging ways, ranging from statist to libertarian, from Marxist to liberal. In the modern era, "pure" socialism has been seen only rarely and usually briefly in a few Communist regimes. Far more common are systems of social democracy, now often referred to as democratic socialism, in which extensive state regulation, with limited state ownership, has been employed by democratically elected governments (as in Sweden and Denmark) in the belief that it produces a fair distribution of income without impairing economic growth.

Communism is often contrasted with capitalism and democracy, though these can be false equivalencies depending on the usage.
Capitalism refers to an economic theory in which a society’s means of production are held by private individuals or organizations, not the government, and where prices, distribution of goods, and products are determined by a free market. It can be contrasted with the economic theories of communism, though the word communism is used of both political and economic theories.
Democracy refers to a system of government in which supreme power is vested in the people and exercised through a system of direct or indirect representation which is decided through periodic free elections. Democracy is contrasted with communism primarily because the 20th-century communism of the U.S.S.R. was characterized by an authoritarian government, whereas the democracy of the 20th-century U.S. was characterized by a representative government.

The difference between the two is that modern social democrats support practical reforms to capitalism as an end in itself whereas democratic socialists ultimately want to go beyond social democratic reforms and advocate systemic transformation of the economy from capitalism to socialism.

Communism and socialism are economic and political structures that promote equality and seek to eliminate social classes. ... Like communismsocialism's main focus is on equality. But workers earn wages they can spend as they choose, while the government, not citizens, owns and operates the means for production.

Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside a ..... Consequently, some former communist parties have re-branded themselves as democratic socialist such as The Left in Germany, a party ...

The 21st century Republican Party ideology is American conservatism. The GOP supports lower taxes, free market capitalism, a strong national defense, gun rights, deregulation and restrictions on labor unions. In addition to advocating for conservative economic policies, the Republican Party is socially conservative.

Is a specter of socialism haunting America, especially among our millennials? There is disquieting evidence of many young Americans’ sympathy for socialism.

Exhibit A: 2.052 million people under the age of 30 voted for democratic socialist Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primaries and caucuses.

Exhibit B: Polls find that, not only do a large majority of millennials have a favorable opinion of socialism, a near majority would prefer to live under socialism rather than capitalism.

Exhibit C: The no-longer sleeping Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) now boasts 30,000 members, most of them in their twenties and eager to follow the socialist banner.

We’ve come a long way since the 1988 presidential race when George H. W. Bush buried his Democratic challenger Michael Dukakis by labeling him a “liberal.” Socialism is no longer a parlor game for academics but a political alternative taken seriously by millennials who are not put off by the radical DSA platform.

DSA believes in ending the private ownership of industries whose products are viewed as “necessities.” The production of such products, it argues, should not be left to “profiteers.” It also believes that government should “democratize” private businesses — that is, give workers control over them — to the greatest extent possible. “Socialism,” explains a member of DSA’s national steering committee, “is the democratization of all areas of life, including but not limited to the economy.”

I think you are on to it Larry.

Those are great!!!

How about the pillars of communism that they have already put into place? I thought that was an eye opener

Here is a simple design- no graphics no color- easy to print! Supposed to be 1/2 page- prints as a jpg

Can someone please try to print this and let me know how it prints out? I am in a campground without a printer!!

I like this.

I will edit and center the b&w... Here is another one- just click center to copy- this is a jpg

Can someone please let me know how this prints out

It as well as the other one are both good messaging graphics. Since both are .jpegs they can be used in many ways. Their fine Suzie.

I am thinking since our previous house closed escrow that I will take these to be reproduced on suitable card stock and take them to forums and events to hand out to attendees requesting that those who can place them on windshields of cars in parking lots.

I can't do the parking lot windshield thing for obvious reasons.

I can hand them out to folks when the opportunity presents itself.

Any objection to my plan?

Thanks Patricia, Absolutely please go forward with your plans!   I love it!! I can make these at any size please let me know if you would like them re-sized also if you have ideas for wording or graphics. I pay for this and can make up to 30 per month...

My idea came to me yesterday. Rose Sperry handed out the Bill of Rights in a peel off packet to all the PC's at the Mingus Mountain Republican Club mtg. yesterday. The idea was to give PC's who do door knocking a tool to answer questions and talk about our rights.

I can do he same kind of thing for PC's with my plan.

You are a dear Ms Suzie.

That was always my hope, that the pre-written letters and other assorted flyers I had made in the past- and it is still my hope with these...

Give me ideas and I will work on it- it is kinda fun working with the graphics programs!
