One More Step towards Tyranny

Posted on November 21, 2013 at 8:20pm 4 Comments

Today we are one more step towards a monarchy. Today Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats chose the “nuclear option” and changed the senate rules on filibusters to allow a simple majority to close a filibuster rather than requiring 60% for the Senate to close debate and call for a vote on judicial appointments. Democrats argue that this is necessary to stop the Republicans from spitefully blocking President Obama’s nominees from appointment. They argue that this stops gridlock and speeds up…

Crony Capitalism At Work Under Illinois’ Health Exchange?

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 5:32pm 1 Comment

A few weeks ago, several local outlets ran a story about, in a wonderfully bi-partisan move, a small start-up business was being recommended for a $150 million dollar federal loan so they could build Illinois’ healthcare exchange under the Affordable Care Act. (…

The Romney Problem

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 7:55pm 0 Comments

I have a personality flaw. That flaw is that I’m naturally inclined toward pessimism. It’s from that perspective that I am afraid for our prospects of voting out President Obama in November. We have a perfect opportunity and I’m afraid we will squander it.

The Republican field for president has been volatile because no one individual has had the record or personality to articulate a real difference in their view of America. Newt Gingrich has come the closest, but he has his failures…

Illinois: Land of the Overtaxed, Home of the Burdened

I can’t say much more about the Illinois income tax increase that hasn’t already been said. The 67 percent increase on income and the hike in the corporate rate from 4.8 percent to 7 percent not only make Illinois taxpayers angry, but they are a killer for Illinois, which lost almost half a million residents to nearby states in the last ten years due to it’s already poor handling of the economy.

Well, maybe I can say a little more…..

First, supporters say that it is only…

Hi Ron, thanks for adding me as a friend. Now remember, I'm a little more middle leaning than many here but fear for my country and my freedoms. I have read many of your posts and think you are someone I am glad to have on this side of things. Very intelligent and well thought out.

Thanks for the invitation Ron. It is always good to have new contributors to the debates. Hopefully, one of us will stumble onto the answer we are all looking for. Like my teacher always told me, there can be no wrong answers in a debate, only the ones not spoken can harm it.
