“Why do the heathen rage”

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed . . . Psalm 2 King James Version (KJV)

A shooting during a gaming event at a popular shopping center in Jacksonville, Fla., killed two people and wounded several others before the gunman killed himself, investigators confirmed.

11 people were transported to hospitals with injuries, including nine with gunshot wounds.

What can be said? I am aghast . . . Again !

While doing a funeral during our first pastorate 1980 the Baptist pastor preached the service, I was riding with him to the grave site I was preforming the committal portion. I was moved by his compassionate words he had just preached. I have remembered his response ever since, “we can do no more for the deceased, we can only comfort the living.”

We are faced again with evil actions by an evil person!

As the political and social justice pundits debate the issues I am sure the REAL ISSUE will again completely miss the major and ultimate issue of EVILE in the minds of mankind.

The amazing thing about this paradox of love overcoming evil is that it leads us to the answer of why God allows evil.

The answer is found in the cross.

Suffering and physical death are not good, but neither are they evil in and of themselves. In fact, through the cross, suffering and death can be redemptive. That is, they can help us to re-capture some of the purity, love and holiness that we are created for. The Cross of Jesus is God’s answer to evil. In it, He conquers and shows us how to overcome evil. http://www.aggiecatholicblog.org/2015/08/when-looking-into-the-face...

I read the above article after the 2015 Shooting of a tv anchor live on assignment.

Jesus of Nazareth look evil in the eye in the wilderness; “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” (Matthew 4:1 NIV)

From the Cross Jesus said: “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34

My point is “compassion” not for the evil or evil doer. Though Jesus said to forgive “them” for the lies, the beatings, the mockery and even the Cross!

But “compassion” for the living, pray for the hurting and grieving because of this EVIL.

Mighty and merciful God remove from me any vengeance from my heart. Let not such evil dwell in us because of the evil in our world. Indwell in me, yes, in us all your Spirit of Love. More over compassion for the living. Almighty Lord make us an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy.

Matt. 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

“blessed are those who bring their pain to God and Christ our Healer.” (James Robertson)

If the rabid radicals...Code Pink; SDS; Antifa, etc...don't maintain this constant state of seething and hate filled rage, their mob, by its very nature as humans, would begin to calm down. And, once they're there, they just might listen to reason.   The poisonous leftists can not take rhar risk.  They'll burn the neighborhoods down to ashes first!

Amendments 6, 8, and 9 guarantee a person's innocence till PROVEN guilty in a court of law.

Christine Crazy Ford's lawyer, who is getting paid by none other than George Soros himself,, says it is NOT her responsibility to corroborate (or PROVE) her claims.

So, it's official. "Innocent till PROVEN guilty"? Nope.

"GUILTY BECAUSE WE SAID SO!!!" is the new /metoo norm. Unless you're Roman Polanksi or wild-Bill Clinton They are the exception to their rules. Which they make up as they go along.

You have made me think hard about compassion and forgiveness... My pain has on occasion taken me to a dark place of anger and rage mostly turned inward, however, these days I find my anger and disgust directed at politicians and Fascists... I have not been able to find compassion or forgiveness for these stupid, mean people... but, now I understand that my compassion can and should be directed to the populations that will suffer the consequences of their actions... Thank You for this

(I don't know how I missed this...)

You may be a prophet ;-)

"Jesus lead by the Spirit"  Met with the angel of light and destroyed every temptation!

We are left to imagine satan's next move, It seems he did just as you suggest; with a bruised ego he may have went directly to the "densely populated city" of David and tempted the Pharisees' and Sadducees' ahead of Jesus' miraculous Ministry.

I've long suspected the sharp increase in these types of rage shootings are consequences of a couple of societal mistakes. One is passing out psychotropic drugs like it's candy, another is validating emotions as the proper guide for decisions.

I've also sometimes wondered about the biblical quote used;

Jesus of Nazareth look evil in the eye in the wilderness; “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” (Matthew 4:1 NIV)

...my experiences tell me the wilderness is not where the temptations of the devil reside. If I'm hunting for temptations of the devil I'm going to a city, the more densely populated the easier the hunt.
